Dance is the richest and most ancient form of art, carrying a huge emotional charge of cheerfulness, energy, and positive emotions. It is a cultural phenomenon that pervades all life. It is not only a set of movements connected to each other, but also a variety of movements, a certain composition, a suitable melody, a costume, and an idea.
Dance has existed and exists in the cultural traditions of all human beings and societies.
In the United States, the last Saturday in July is National Dance Day. This holiday was created by Nigel Lithgow, producer of the American reality show “So You Think You Can Dance.” National Dance Day promotes he althy living and dance education. On this day, all kinds of dance events are organized in the USA, which for Americans become a fun way to spend time and an opportunity to lose weight. Activities include performances by dance groups, flash mobs, dance marathons, charity concerts and much more.
There is a great variety in dance styles in the United States of America, which is the home of hip-hop dance, swing, tap dance, and graceful rock and roll, as well as modern square dance. Twenty-three US states have adopted the square dance as an official state dance or an official folk dance.
There are also many social dance and concert or performing dance groups. Reality shows and competitors such as “So You Think You Can Dance,” “America's Best Dance Crew,” and “Dancing with the Stars” expanded audiences for dance.
Previously, the National Dance Association (NDA) was part of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recovery and Dance (AAHPERD). This association, the oldest dance education organization, developed programs, published books and materials, and sponsored professional development for dance educators in a wide range of disciplines.
The National Dance Education Organization (NDEO), located in Silver Spring, Maryland, was established in 1998 as a national non-profit organization supporting dance education and dance in the United States in general. It is a membership organization that supports dance teachers with programs and services. NDEO publishes the Journal of Dance Education (JODE) and Dance Education in Practice (DEiP) and offers an annual National Conference, small specialty courses, and more than 26 online dance education courses through its Online Professional Development Institute (OPDI).
NDEO has received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to support government initiatives to develop and develop state and local school district standards, curriculum frameworks, assessments, education, teacher training, and more through the development of three- to five- year government plans.
It's never too late to learn--one of the rules of America! If someone often thought that it was worth starting to dance, but something constantly distracted or interfered with him, then it is easy to leave these days in the past. For everyone who would like to develop their flexibility and horizons, numerous posters and advertisements publish a list of schools, studios, classes where one can become a student in a dance class and master any style. Students will be able to comprehend the basics of a huge variety of dance styles, such as ballet, salsa, jazz, yoga, and other various dance forms. Having a partner is not a prerequisite for enrolling in courses. Thus, anyone can experience all the charm of the dance world, and in return they can get into great shape and graceful flexibility.
Dance training is gradually entering various, sometimes quite unusual, branches of education. In the very center of Manhattan in New York, the Rennert school is very popular with English Plus Dance (Steps on Broadway) and Academy Plus courses. Dance-Full-Day courses consist of an intensive English course (20 lessons per week) combined with five dance lessons (an hour and a half each). The program offers a wide range of dance styles from beginners to advanced dance history learners. Students dance with teachers from major dance companies in the styles of hip-hop, jazz, street dance, musical, ballet, and more.
Another of the interesting dance styles is dancing in silence (silent discos). New Yorkers' new craze of “silent parties” is slowly taking over America. Every day, different people gather in different places around the country, put on headphones with backlights, and quietly go crazy.
In the evening, at the entrance to the open-air bar “Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden” is silent, although the organizers promised a thousand people. We go inside and find that everything is already here. Hundreds of absolutely happy eyes and ears abound: everyone is dancing in headphones, and the headphones change color. It turns out that there are three channels, each with its own DJ. Three colors indicate the three different genres. Blue is house, red is nineties, and green is hip hop. I immediately want to dance. At the “quiet parties,” the dancers for the first time received a DJ control panel: If you don't like the music, switch your headphone to another channel. DJs, seeing that everyone is switching to one channel indiscriminately, try even harder to outdo one another, and the music becomes even better.
The crowd consists of dancing teenagers, grandparents, groups of friends, clerks in suits--lovers of all kinds of music. In the end, on one of the channels there will definitely be something to your liking. If you stay late, you can see how many people around begin to hug and kiss. Moreover, very often by the color of the headphones it is clear that while dancing together, they, nevertheless, listen to different music. William Petz, the founder of Silent Parties, claims that as many romances as are tied up at his parties do not occur anywhere else. He believes that the matter is in the intimacy that unites people in headphones, in their isolation from the outside world, and also in the ability to communicate calmly, without shouting over music and noise, by removing the headphones.
“Quiet parties” are gaining popularity, and not only among club lovers. Colored headphones are already being successfully rented out for “quiet corporate parties,” and stand-up comedy evenings involve two or three comedians on different channels. There are also tours around New York that combine an intensive historical walk around the city, a disco, and flash mobs and performances. At large silent parties, the entrance price is usually five to fifteen dollars; for small ones designed for less than a hundred people around $25. Compared to the cost of entrance tickets to “normal” clubs in New York, it's a bargain.
The world is increasingly gravitating towards personalized services, so there is great potential for silent discotheques to be the party of the future. In the end, you can supply separate music to each guest. But for now, Will has a plan: to expand around the world. “I want to have access to our headphones in every city. And then--in each country. All people have the right to a holiday--even if this holiday looks strange, it is inside you,” says the entrepreneur. It turns out that all you need to be happy is a pair of headphones with lights and a good DJ.
