Аннотация

Статья посвящена актуальной проблеме использования информационных технологий в обучении английскому языку. В статье представлены преимущества и рекомендации преподавателям по внедрению современных информационных технологий в процесс обучения иностранным языкам. В статье рассматривается роль использования интернет ресурсов на занятиях по английскому языку. Роль современных технологий возрастает не только в нашей повседневной жизни, но и в профессиональной деятельности. В связи с этим возникает вопрос, как обучать английскому с использованием современных компьютерных технологий.

Abstract

The article is devoted to the actual problem of using ICT in teaching and studying English. There are given the advantages of using ICT in foreign languages study, recommendations for teachers are brought in the article. The article observes the role of the Internet in English lessons. Technology is becoming increasingly important in both our personal and professional lives and the learners of English are using technology more and more. Therefore there is the problem how to teach English with technologies.

Nowadays the necessity to speak foreign languages is not questioned and modern communication-oriented teaching prepares students to use the foreign language in everyday life, and also it gives an opportunity for cultural, professional and personal contact with the representatives of various social traditions and social systems.

Today many major methodological innovations are connected with the use of interactive teaching methods. The word “interactive” is borrowed from the English “interact”. “Inter” means “common” and “act” is “to act”. “Interactive” means capable of interacting or being in a mode of conversation, dialogue with something (e.g. a computer) or someone (person) [1]. Therefore, interactive education is a dialogue training process, where is the interaction between a teacher and a student.

Interactive education is a special form of cognitive activity. It has specific and predictable objectives. One of them is to create a comfortable learning environment, where a student feels to be successful and his intellectual independence. It makes a productive learning. The essence of online learning is that during the learning process, all students are involved in the process of perception; they are able to understand and reflect about what they know and think. It takes place in the kind atmosphere with mutual support, which allows not only obtaining new knowledge, but also develops cognitive activity itself; it changes it into higher cooperation and collaboration. In order to avoid the dominance of one speaker or one opinion over the other in the classroom there is organized individual, pair and group work, applied research projects, role-playing and also there is an activity with documents and various sources of information [2]. Nowadays the usage of new multimedia technologies for the realization of interactive education is widespread. MULTIMEDIA is multivariate field, which gives the opportunity not only to get information, but also it allows to create texts and graphic information with sound, video and animation in the process of English learning. Today we have equipped classrooms with computers with Internet access. Students should have skills of information technologies using to enhance the language and knowledge of the country. This task is impossible without the use of computers and computer programs as an integral part of modern language education.

Multimedia technologies involve the use of audio-visual and interactive learning tools such as:

1) software (multimedia CDs, presentations, audio, videos and Internet resources);

2) equipment (PCs, audio and video equipment, multimedia projector, interactive whiteboard)[3].

As for software, modern information and communication technologies provide a whole range of resources for learning foreign languages: multimedia tutorials (“Professor Higgins”, “Oxford platinum”, “English platinum”, “Tutor in English Cyril and Methodius”) and dictionaries, a huge variety of Internet resources such as educational and authentic materials in foreign languages, electronic versions of foreign newspapers and magazines, publishing and different online courses[4].

We can process material by means of special programs for the test preparation. There is a variety of advanced multimedia tutorials, where you can find enough exercise for students of all ages and different levels of knowledge.

For example, teachers of the foreign and Russian languages department of the Karaganda economical University of Kazpotrebsoyuz use the following tutorials teaching English skills: Reward, Essential Grammar in use, Face to face and etc.

Especially I would like to dwell on the features of using of interactive boards on English lessons. Software of interactive whiteboard has the following features:

1) During the explanation of grammatical material (for example: making different types of sentences) using of colored pencils helps to highlight important thing and focus on using of the correct form of the notional verb and position of the auxiliary in the sentence.

2) On the screen, you can display your ideas, to fix the working order and, if it is necessary, having the opportunity to go back to the beginning of the statement, or more sophisticated aspects of the material of the lesson (for example: the theme “The difference in the using and formation of tenses ” Past Simple “and” Past Perfect “).

3) The function of “drag and drop” allows you to move pictures and words when performing tasks such as “matching”, “making the combination”, ” associating” (as contrasted with the presentation Power Point, where all objects are allocated on their places, then randomly can not be changed).

4) A few pictures of the lesson can be placed on one slide.

5) All material of the given lesson with interactive whiteboard can be saved in recording and there is no need for the teacher to write and create it all over again [5].

The program has a large collection of ready-made thematic pictures, which can also be used in class for introduction, revision, activation and control of all kinds of students' oral activities.

The using of presentations is getting more popular. They are convenient for teachers and students. The presentation, except the text, can include images, Flash animations, graphs, tables, video and music. Text can be well read by native speakers[6].

We can not say that using of multimedia in the English classroom solve all the problems, but it makes the process of education much easier. The practice of teachers of the Foreign and Russian languages Department of KEUK shows that inclusion of multimedia software gives obvious positive results:

- Multimedia-technologies accelerate the learning process;

- Improve the quality of learning material;

- Contribute to a fast growth of interest to the subject;

- Provide interactive learning;

- Allow organizing differential training, taking into account the variety of specific

types of thinking and learning styles of students;

- Give the opportunity to avoid of subjectiveness of estimation;

- Develop systems of thinking, learn to analyze, collate and summarize the facts;

- Enforce the students' independence;

- Use received knowledge in everyday lives (communicate in English; translate songs, dialogues of actors in cartoons and movies).

Using of interactive multimedia technologies in the communicative teaching foreign languages greatly improves the quality of the material explanation and effectiveness of learning of this material by students. According to the experience the usage and implication of modern technology and multimedia equipment enriches the content of the educational process, increases students' motivation to learn English and there is strong partnership between teachers and students.
