Cultural question: kinder or cyber
Бугайов Микола Вікторович, аспірант Копієвська Ольга Рафаілівна, доктор культурології, професор НАКККіМ
Today, we have a total informatization of society, caused by the active development of digital technologies, and, as a result, its Internetization. This led to the emergence of digital forms of communication, which opened up new, unlimited opportunities in the distribution and consumption of information. The development of technology has primarily affected young people. Internet technologies allow today's children to be involved in social activities much earlier compared to the previous generation. With the help of modem technologies, a child can take an active part in the social, economic and cultural life of society. Blogs, which are becoming more and more popular among young people, are an effective tool for such influence.
Children in blogs have the opportunity to talk about everything that interests them, that is, to exchange cultural products (stories, illustrations) that they chose themselves (of course, if the blog is run by a child himself), and not by adults, which is an objective indicator of the children's formed cultural tastes [2]. The openness of the Internet environment for communication without limitations in space allows kidfluencers to demonstrate their picture of the world and at the same time compare it with the system of images of objective reality that exists in another public consciousness.
Many blogs contain information about different cultures, their diversity, which helps to communicate with users from all over the world. This causes cultures to converge and change. Blogging enables a child to express themself, improves reading, writing, digital literacy, social and civic skills, increases self-esteem, and stimulates creativity. A blog promotes collaborative thinking, can help build multicultural connections, and helps children understand that the world really is a global village. Blogs give kids an authentic, unlimited audience.
Blogging, however, can also have a negative impact on children, leading to psychological problems caused by ideal images or the struggle for likes on posts, which in the age of social media are increasingly considered an indicator of popularity and a measure of significance [3]. It is also important to teach children who blog about the rules of working on the Internet: do not publish confidential information, be responsible when choosing content. Children who use such blogs generally spend more time in the virtual environment than with their parents, so they are actually shaped by the Internet environment. Bloggers can educate shopaholics - people who see the meaning of life in material image things, or, on the contrary, instill a desire to behave responsibly, in an adult way. The child perceives fictional scenarios as part of the real life of peers and tries to repeat such behavior patterns. Moreover, the younger the child, the less critical thinking is developed in them, so they perceive what they see as an absolute example. Teenagers need identification with some role models. And if teenagers choose an idol, they adopt their positive and negative traits and habits. Useful children's blogs and blogs for children talk about everyday life hacks, ideas for creativity, travel, tricks, sports exercises, dancing, movies, about animals, psychology and art.
Children, being between cultures, often form their own unique culture. Today, children who are bloggers, as well as children who are users of such blogs, are also on the border of two information environments: real and virtual (cyberspace). This determines their moral and ethical attitudes, cultural interests, affects linguistic mentality and forms a certain picture of the world. According to scientists, the Internet network directs the development of culture in two directions: the first - overcomes language barriers, blurs the national boundaries of culture, removes the boundaries between such forms of culture as science, education, art and leisure, through art, activities, crafts, food, language, etc., educate citizens of the world; the second - provides an opportunity for each person not only to passively perceive a cultural product, but also to actively influence it, determine its content and purpose. Cyberspace provides new opportunities for the formation and development of virtual communities, thereby creating an appropriate form of culture, namely cyberculture.
Blogs significantly determine the preferences of modern children, forming their cultural self-awareness, determining intercultural competence and in the future, this process will acquire even larger scales. This leads to the emergence of a generation of cyber culture - information culture, which, as a new cultural model, requires balancing between two realities - social and virtual, and this, accordingly, actualizes a qualitatively new worldview with appropriate value attitudes, moral and ethical norms, social roles and behavior models of a modern person.
