Objective: historical and theoretical analysis of the scientific foundations and practice of using psychodiagnostic techniques in solving problems of professional selection. Working hypotheses: 1) Historically established theory and practice of professional selection do not reflect the conditions and requirements of the subject's activity in the real environment of modern organizations. 2) The prevailing theory and practice do not reflect the evolutionary trends of social objects and are not consistent with the evolutionary dynamics of modern organizations. Taking into account the evolution of social objects and the need to solve marginal social problems (human conservation, human development), the issues of “units” of analysis are discussed; resources and effects of interaction of subjects of joint activities; dynamics of changes in the state of the external and internal environment of the organization, etc. In terms of solving applied problems, it should be considered not a separate "individual", but a person who is actually included in social microgroups; facts of dividing the profession into many specializations and unique jobs, etc.

Keywords: psychodiagnostics, professional selection, determining the subject's professional compliance with the requirements of activity, resources, joint activities of subjects, microgroups and small groups, dynamics, evolution, external and internal environment of the organization.
