The dissertation covers a research into psychological peculiarities of future teachers' attitude to ecological and educational activity. This thesis generalizes the research approaches to the problem and then establishes a system psychological model of future teachers' attitude to ecological and educational activity which is the basis for developing a strategy for research and experimental work. The latter aimed to develop the very value attitude to the aforementioned sphere of activity. Attitude is viewed as a conscious and personal category. This thesis asserts that attitude is a complex psychological phenomenon which reflects the unity of “affect and intellect.” The latter is regulated by the mechanisms of reflexion, and empathy and identification, and is shown in the student's subject position through self-expression and self-realization in the ecological and educational activity.

This thesis examined motivational and active, cognitive, and emotional components of attitude and conditions of their development at the main stage of the professional training of the future specialist.

Taking into consideration the psychological peculiarities, a developmental and correctional programme was developed. The programme is being implemented on the basis of the unity of active and communicative principle and compensatory and interdisciplinary factors in the process of training of future elementary school teachers. The programme was experimentally tested and proved effective.
