The problem of unity of knowledge: from the idea of unification to the process of integration
M. Friedman and F. Kitcher proposed a model of the explanatory unity of knowledge, where the principle of unification is related to understanding, and the unity of a scientific theory was determined by how useful it is in creating a coherent argument.
